Let the water become your light source!
Aquatic lighting is one of our favorite design elements of outdoor lighting. From fish lights off the dock, to cascading waterfalls, light has the ability to transform water into something truly extraordinary. When creating an aquatic lighting design, there many factors that contribute to a unique water oasis. It is important to select the proper lumen output of marine lights, depending on the water’s turbidity. If you live on a canal with murky brackish water, we will want to use a much brighter light than if you wanted to illuminate a pond on a filtration system to maximize visibility and reduce glare. Since water naturally diffuses light, it’s important to use lamps with higher lumen output to maximize the lighting effect. Placement of the lighting fixtures is another critical factor in designing an aquatic lighting scene. Placing fixtures adjacent to moving water maximizes the dramatic effect of active light on the surrounding areas. With water, the possibilities are endless.
